There are many ailments that can affect a person’s foot from general pain and injury to rashes that can also cause pain and issues with wearing shoes or socks or even walking. And most know that when your feet hurt, everything hurts. It can change your stride and keep you on the couch which leads to many other issues. Take a look at some of the more common rashes that one can encounter.

Contact Dermatitis

The cause is in the name. This is when the skin becomes irritated and a rash can occur because of something that you came in contact with. Some people have reactions when it comes to different detergents, soaps or fragrances. This can happen when you change what you use in your laundry or a cleaner on your carpet. Even when you go away, if you are prone to skin irritation it’s recommended that you bring your own soap to prevent this from happening. You can also have contact dermatitis from poison ivy or oak, animal bites or insect stings.

Allergies

An allergic reaction can manifest itself anywhere. This could be a food allergy, or an allergy to a medication. Even though you may have blisters or hives all over, on your feet is especially annoying and uncomfortable because again, you still have to walk around. Walking will irritate the skin and not let it heal as quickly as it would have somewhere else.

Chronic Skin Conditions

These can cause a rash such as from eczema or psoriasis. These are two rashes that can occur on any part of the body. Eczema can cause a rash and swelling while psoriasis causes scaly white spots and inflammation as well. These are two rashes that can come and go in flare ups. Some people are more prone to them in the summer when it gets hot and humid and some people are bothered more in the winter when skin is dry and loses all its moisture. They can also flare up due to stress or illness. There really is no known cause for why the flare-ups pop up but it can be annoying and cause great irritation in the feet.

Hand Foot and Mouth Disease

Generally an illness that occurs in summer and fall, it’s mostly common in children but can also be contracted by adults. Generally this is something that is spread by coughing and sneezing and when you have little children it can be transmitted though their stool and then touching things. After a day or two of having a fever there follows blisters and sores on the mouth, hands, feet and sometimes the buttock. These blisters for sure will not be comfortable but generally go away within 3-6 days.

Rashes on the feet while common are not usually spoken about with everyday people. What if you walk around barefoot, they might think you are contagious! Which, you most likely aren’t. But it definitely is something that is uncomfortable and can make activities of daily living difficult to complete.
